Become a Volunteer!

The Trauma Intervention Program (TIP) is looking for caring people willing to be part of a team of citizen volunteers trained to provide emotional and practical support to the victims of traumatic events. These modern-day Good Samaritans will be called to emergency scenes by emergency response personnel to:

  • Comfort families after the death or sudden illness of a loved one
  • Help disoriented elderly persons
  • Help disoriented elderly persons
  • Support survivors of a suicide
  • Help emotionally traumatized victims of accidents
  • Help those emotionally shaken by any crisis event

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Trauma Intervention Program (TIP) Foothill Mountain of the Sierra's Inc. We are always looking for compassionate individuals who are ready to take the next step in serving their community.

Orientation

 

Sierra Oaks Senior and Community Center
Training Dates: September 30th-October 9th

Full Schedule will be provided at Orientation

Due to the high-sensitivity of work involved with our organization, all volunteers must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be 16-years-old or older
  • Clean driving record
  • Clean criminal history (complete background investigation will be performed)
  • Commit to (3) 12-hour shifts per month
  • Attend monthly Continuing Education meeting
  • Attend 36-hour training academy*

If you meet the above requirements, then we want you!

*The academy will teach you the five Emotional First Aid skills of reaching out, protecting, reassuring, organizing and reinforcing. It is taught with the help of rescue personnel and mental health professionals. Becoming a volunteer requires the 36 hours of training, a three-month field-training program, plus mandatory 3-hour continued education classes once per month.
